HAWKINS STREET HOT LUNCH PROGRAM
Fifteen or more years ago, the Christian Churches of Nashwaaksis saw the need for a lunch program for the children of Hawkins Street area.
St. Theresa's Parish has been involved in this endeavour since the beginning. On the first Wednesday of every month we provide a hot pasta meal for the children in elementary school, known as "the after school lunch". A person in that community cooks and serves the meals. The co ordinator at St. Theresa's gathers the ingredients or purchases whatever is necessary from our many volunteers who help with this program. Two faithful women have been baking the desserts for years. When food is needed, the group are willing to provide it and a few assist by giving money when necessary.
This group works together in the Spirit of Christ, as a meeting is never necessary.
