How it works:
Members of St. Theresas
parish are invited to join the pastoral council for a three year period. Elections of officers are held each year.
Meetings are held once a month from Sept. through June, usually
on the 3rd Monday of the month at 5:30pm, and last an average
of one and a half hour. The agenda is prepared by the chair person in
consultation with the parish priest for each meeting.
Other Info:
St. Theresa's is a local expression of the People of
God. Every person who is part
of our parish is a gifted person. We are marked by their faith and by
their commitment to God, to Church and to parish. As a member of the
Pastoral Council you will be asked to assist this whole community to
live and nurture that faith we share.
Like any parish community, ours has a number of goals
that we strive to accomplish. We may never do so perfectly, but the
striving after these goals is important. In general, it might be said
that the goals of the whole Church and the more local parish community
are the same:
* To express, in our
world, the presence of God as revealed in Christ
* To
celebrate this presence as a faith community
* To nurture prayer
and a life that acknowledges God's presence
* To seek and work for
justice, peace and care for all
* To provide opportunity
to learn and grow in our faith and relationship with God
